My conversation with Cerruti Brown of the AmeriLeague

hoopshype.com | Bernard Lee | Nov. 4, 2015

Like a lot of people in basketball, I had the news of the upcoming AmeriLeague catch my attention over the summer. As an agent, my background over the years is working with players that would be prime targets of such league if legit. I have had numerous NBA players who started their careers and proved their talents and values by playing in places other than the NBA. I kept seeing the headlines and made a mental note that at some point I would either hear from the people or should seek them out myself.

Texas A&M DE Myles Garrett Driven by Examples of his Two Older Siblings

SI.com | Pete Thamel | July 28, 2015

When Myles Garrett was at Arlington (Texas) Martin High, he was the No. 2 recruit in the country, and Alabama’s Nick Saban, LSU’s Les Miles and Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin all showed up on the same day to watch him work out. He once had 8½ sacks in one game, and he blocked seven kicks in the first seven games his senior season, including one against South Grand Prairie High at the exact moment Sumlin landed next to the field in the Aggies’ recruiting chopper (aka the Swagcopter). “It was so cool,” Martin High coach Bob Wager says, “it was comical.” View article »

Why Agents Are Necessary

HoopsHype.com | Bernard Lee | July 23, 2015

I recently read a piece by NFL player Russel Okung for The Player’s Tribune about why he didn’t need an agent and I have to say I agree with some aspects of what he wrote. Ultimately, I have come to see that an agent is a value add for athletes in a lot of ways. The counterpoint I would make to Okung’s argument is that the hiring and development of a great relationship with an agent might be one of the most important value adds in a athlete’s career. View article »

According to Sportando, he has signed a contract with Uşak Sportif, a Turkish first-division team in the western Turkey city of Usak. But it was reported yesterday that D`Angelo Harrison would play in the summer league with NBA’s Houston Rockets.
It could be that Harrison has an out with the Turkish squad if he makes an NBA roster; at the very least, it seems that the St. John’s star has a place to play if the NBA undrafted longshot doesn’t work…at least at first. Making money and gaining experience is important…
